Paws For Reflection

Betsy Burke, RVC

Tis Summer and the slimy toads do gire and gimmer on their way. Somehow, a friend’s interpretation of a line from Alice and Wonderland has stuck in my head for over 20 years. However, if you want to plan for your summer, you might want to check out the following events:

AG 2002—July 3-7 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Registration is $75 until June 15. This should be an interesting gathering. The Scottsdale Fairmont Princess Resort is $89 a night. I believe it is just about sold out but the alternate site is actually cheaper. Check out the web site at us.mensa.org for more details. This is your opportunity to meet a wide variety of Mensans and attend some wonderful speaker events.

If you prefer to stay closer to home consider coming to RG in Binghamton Most Fun In Central New York August 16—18 Ithaca, NY Reg. $40 to 6/16, $45 to 7/16, $50 after. Best Western, 1020 Ellis Hollow Rd., East Hill Plaza, Ithaca, NY 14850; 607/272-6100. SR/DR/TR/QR $89 + tax. Room rates guaranteed through 8/18; must mention Mensa. Checks payable to Most Fun RG. H, RP, DT, H/AS. Contact: see M'Ocean for details.

You might also plan to attend a Leadership Development Workshop scheduled for the weekend of Sept 28th in the triple cities area. As of now, plans are still being finalized as to whether it’ll be in Binghamton or Johnson City. But if you can reserve that date and see about getting involved/revitalized/motivated/re-motivated about your role in Mensa this would be an invent to attend. We haven’t had an LDW in Region 1 for several years. More details will be coming about this later.

Katie Hooten has joined the Mensa Team as the new Communications Director/Managing Editor for the Bulletin. We wish her success in her new assignment. Julie Boone is now employed by a children’s hospital. Hopefully, being an editor of the Bulletin doesn’t lead to everyone ending up in a hospital!

Please feel free to contact me about any Mensa issues that you might have. I greatly appreciate those who let me know about what they think about various items on the AMC agenda or any Mensa concerns.
