Summer is over and its time to get back to work. It’s strange that even after being retired for several years I still see September as the start of a new year! This year, Region 1 and Region 2 are joining together to host a Leadership Development Workshop at the Best Western Hotel in Johnson City NY. Set aside the dates of Sept 28-30 and join us. Don Pendley and Jim Blackmore are giving a special presentation on communication and public relations. Other topics include local group needs, proctoring and local group web pages. Region 1 should congratulate its winners of the Publications Recognition Awards given out at the AG this summer. The Beacon of Boston won for best calendar section and Northern New Jersey’s was given a special recognition for its Not for Parents Only. Boston Mensa also won for its web page on local gatherings! Thanks to all the editors, webmasters and contributors for their hard work.
I’d also like to thank Jerry Riley for all the help he’s given Region 1 through the years, especially as a past RVC and webmaster extraordinaire. Jerry and Donna have moved to California. I know they’ll be happy there but Region 1 will miss both of them.
