FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Is it acceptable to bring a family member,
even if they are not currently a member?

Yes, we welcome family members, spouses, etc.
Mensa is so often a family affair. There is a fee for hospitality
for non-Ms: $30/each if they are staying at the Hampton Inn,
and $45/each otherwise. Please send this in advance to our Registrar Joan.
Please see the Registration form for contact information.
In place of the M number on the registration form,
put "Family of (M attending)".

Can non-Ms at the LDW attend the sessions as well?
Yes, on a space available basis.
Priority for seating will go to Ms, but at this time we
don't anticipate the meeting rooms filling to capacity.

Is there a hotel shuttle?
Yes, the Hampton Inn runs a shuttle to T.F. Green Airport, about 1/4 mile away.
The shuttle is free for hotel guests and is available 24 hours a day.
You can use the courtesy phones at the airport terminal to reach the hotel.

How do I get to the Hampton Inn?
By car: Take I-95 to Exit 13 towards T.F. Green Airport.
At the light, turn left onto Post Road.
Go one block, and the hotel is on the right.

By air: Our airport is T.F. Green.
The Hampton Inn runs a shuttle to T.F. Green Airport.
The shuttle is free for hotel guests and is available 24 hours a day.
You can use the courtesy phones at the airport terminal to reach the hotel.

By train: Amtrak and the Boston commuter rail (T) serve Union Station in
Providence. That train station is about six blocks from Kennedy Plaza,
the main local bus terminal in Providence. (see below)

By long-distance bus: Some Greyhound and Bonanza buses also stop at
Kennedy Plaza, but check, as some buses go straight to the Bonanza Bus terminal,
a couple of miles away.

By local (RIPTA) bus: From Kennedy Plaza Stop "D", the #14 bus goes to a stop
directly in front of the Hampton Inn. The #20 bus leaves Kennedy Plaza Stop "A"
and will take you to the airport. (The Hampton Inn runs a shuttle to T.F. Green
Airport. The shuttle is free for hotel guests and is available 24 hours a day.
You can use the courtesy phones at the airport terminal to reach the hotel.)
For exact bus times, which vary by season, go to www.ripta.com.
The bus is $1.50. You do not need exact change, as the bus accepts
bills up to $20, but your change will be in the form of a debit card.

I am interested in sharing a hotel room. Can you help?
Yes. Click here to go to the LDW Room Sharing Contact Form.
