There are multiple ways to qualify for admission to American Mensa, Ltd. and the Rhode Island Mensa Local Group.
American Mensa, Ltd. offers two different tests for admission. Either one can qualify you for admission. They are appropriate
for most candidates. You may take both tests, once each, regardless of method (in-person vs. private).
The in-person test fee is normally $60 per session (two tests), payable in cash, credit card, American Mensa voucher, check, or money order payable
to American Mensa, Ltd. All candidates must have a photo ID.
Candidates between the ages of 14 and 18 must have proof of age and be accompanied to registration by a parent or guardian,
who will sign the consent to test. Unfortunately, we cannot test anyone younger than 14 years old. Parents/guardians are not
allowed in the room while testing takes place, unless they are also testing.
Many of our tests are administered on Saturday mornings. If this is not convenient for you, please suggest a day or time
that is. We cannot guarantee we will be able to accommodate you, but we will try.
Contact us at testing@rhodeisland.us.mensa.org.
American Mensa also offers private testing through local testing venues. For Rhode Island and SE Mass., the locations include Providence, Warwick, Cumberland, Lincoln, Newport (all in Rhode Island) and in Brockton and Westport, Massachusetts. The private testing fee is $99 (two tests), and registration is through American Mensa, Ltd. at How Private Mensa Admission Testing Works.
You can also submit prior evidence for admission Join Mensa Using My Past Test Scores, or take the Home test to see how you do before
taking the actual test Take the Online Mensa Practice Test.
If your child is younger than 14 years old, our Gifted Children's Coordinator may be able to offer some guidance.
Contact giftedcoordinator@rhodeisland.us.mensa.org.
Good luck, and we hope to see you soon!
The geographic area of Rhode Island Mensa covers all of Rhode Island and Bristol County in Southeastern Massachusetts.
The American Mensa Admissions Tests are given for the purpose of admission into Mensa. A score at the 98th percentile on any one
of our tests or American Mensa, Ltd. sanctioned prior evidence qualifies you for Mensa membership. The final authority on admission
matters rests with American Mensa, Ltd., under the aegis of the American Mensa Supervisory Psychologist. The material presented on
